Postberg Nature Reserve

A day out for me and my gran.

Postberg is a secret that’s not really a secret, it’s tucked inside the West Coast National Park and only opens for a short window each year during flower season (August–September).

Yellows, purples, pinks, and oranges carpet the landscape, stretching as far as the eye could see. It didn’t even look real. We stopped at a lookout point, stepped out the car, and just stood there looking at the fields of daisies, nemesias, vygies, and gazanias swayed gently in the breeze, while a zebra grazed lazily on the far side.

We spotted eland, bontebok, ostriches, and even a shy tortoise making his grand spring appearance. We had a picnic overlooking the ocean and felt so blessed to have this time together.

Postberg in spring is a reminder to pause, breathe, and remember that for a few weeks each year, a slice of heaven blooms just a couple of hours from the city;)
