Boulders Beach: Where the Sand is Soft and the Locals Waddle
Tucked away just outside Simon’s Town, Boulders Beach is where powdery white sand, turquoise water, and giant granite rocks meet… penguins. Yes. Actual penguins. Hundreds of them. And they’ve claimed the place as their own (as they should).
This isn’t just a beach, it’s a home for the African penguin, also known as the Jackass Penguin.
Here’s what makes Boulders special:
- It’s one of the only places in the world where you can get up close to wild penguins without visiting an aquarium or zoo.
- The water is freezing, but so worth it
- The boulders are perfectly placed for sun tanning, sheltered from the wind.
The penguins are adorable. Please admire them respectfully.
