Exploring Dinton Pastures Country Park: Family-Friendly Lakes & Walks in Berkshire

With restrictions in full swing and home starting to feel like a shoebox, we decided to escape to Dinton Pastures Country Park in Berkshire – an oasis of lakes, woodlands, meadows, and wide open skies 🌳

The adventure playground was closed (as expected) but after we got through toddler meltdown mode, it gave us permission to slow down. No rushing from swings to slides, just wandering the stroller-friendly paths around Black Swan Lake watching the ducks, swans, and geese.

One of the unexpected gifts of those pandemic days was how outings like this felt so much richer. Without cafés, shops, or play equipment to distract us, we paid more attention. We noticed the way the sunlight shimmered across the lake. The way the geese clustered like little floating communities. The way Lily noticed every stick and stone as if it were treasure. Sometimes slowing down really does open your eyes.

That’s the magic of Dinton Pastures: it gives you exactly what you need. A reset button, wrapped up in 450 acres of nature.
